Code R.E.D. Rally
What does Code R.E.D. mean?
The Code R.E.D. Rally was created to address the need for increased education and for early detection to prevent deaths related to prostate cancer. The R.E.D. in Code R.E.D. stands for Rallying for Early Detection and Rallying to End Disparities.
Early Detection
Simply put, we believe Early Detection Saves Lives. We believe this begins with the public being aware of what we should know and that this awareness opens the door for education.
There needs to be a higher level of awareness amongst the community which will create opportunities to educate and inform and influence men (and their loved ones) to take the action needed to save their lives and produce better outcomes.
For us, Early Detection means three things.
Education, including knowledge about health and wellness (nutrition, fitness etc.).
This also means PSA screenings and DREs for men beginning at age 40.
Ending Disparities
Our goal is to help save the lives of all men, but the stark reality of the current data is this. Men of African descent die at higher rates than their counterparts of other ethnic backgrounds. A major focus for our initiative is to address and remedy these terrible statistics through education and empowerment. We believe in equipping men and their families with information to help reverse these alarming trends.
